Juventus Looking At Owen!

Juventus's manager Claudio Ranieri has allegedly defended Owen when Mourinho said the Toon striker was nowhere near as good as he used to be.

But there is no love lost between the two former Chelsea men, and despite SKY Sports saying Juventus are set to make Owen a tempting offer to uproot and move abroad, some think Ranieri is simply having a dig at the Inter Milan boss.

Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has rejected speculation that he wants to sign Michael Owen for Inter Milan, saying the Newcastle striker is not the player he used to be.

I think the majority of Toon fans know injuries have taken their toll on Michael Owen.

Like Alan Shearer, there is only so much you can take, and like the GOALden Boy (Shearer), Owen has lost his pace.

But Shearer had the strength, and the know-how, to change his game from a sniffer feeding off the big guy in the middle ... to become the ultimate target man.

Owen is struggling to make the change from the striker who was like "shit off a stick", to a player sat behind the front two.

He is not the player we bought for £17m from Real Madrid. Far from it.

And Mourinho knows it.

Owen's existing deal at St James' Park expires in the summer and the 29-year-old has informed his current employers that he will wait until the close-season before deciding where his future lies.

He has played just 65 games for Newcastle in three and a half injury-hit years.

Jose Mourinho: "I haven't given Owen any thought at all.

"The last year he has had serious injuries and he is no longer the Owen we all knew."
