Meyler, who is away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland ahead of Wednesday's friendly with Serbia, has been praised by Keane for not lashing out at Pardew following the clash.
Roy Keane: "He did exactly what you would expect him to do.
"He did the right thing. He's a [County] Cork lad so he doesn't go down easily.
"There's been no surprise for me with Meyler. I know the type of character he is."
Asked whether he would have reacted in the same way, Keane smiled as he replied: "I'm not sure I would have got involved in anything like that."
As we all know, Keane swung a haymaker at Alan Shearer at St James' Park in a Newcastle/Man Utd clash, after the Toon No 9 kept calling him a "nob-head".
Strange, I cannot understand why Keane objected.
The Irishman later said in his book: "Not connecting with Shearer is one of the biggest regrets of my career."
After years of telling everyone what a great boxer he was during his time in Cork ... he wasn't very good ... was he?
