There has been confusion at St James´Park all week when we heard from an insider that KK had been SACKED!
Apparently it did happen ... but Mike Ashley didn´t expect the near riot that followed and back-pedalled his way out of it.
But now the confusion surrounding Keegan's future at the club is settled.
Keegan held talks with Newcastle's hierarchy on Monday and Tuesday, and Newcastle denied he had been sacked.
Then Keegan insisted through the League Manager's Association that he had not resigned.
Now following further talks, Keegan has indeed quit his role - bringing to an end his second spell in charge which lasted eight months, after he took charge following Sam Allardyce's depature.
Keegan: "I've been working desperately hard to find a way forward with the directors, but sadly that has not proved possible.
"It's my opinion that a manager must have the right to manage and that clubs should not impose upon any manager any player that he does not want."
