"We made promises to people and those promises were not kept, quite frankly. There are loads of promises still not kept from that time.
"(The club) was changing. The priorities were changing. We had driven it on and driven it on.
"At the end of it, I just didn't like it. It wasn't a football club anymore, so I got out.
"If people are going to blame me for that, fine, but I know I was right."
