The Republic of Ireland Under-20 international was offered trials by a number of English clubs including Hartlepool and Sheffield United, but also accepted an invitation for a week’s trial at 1860 Munich.
Kendrick’s week in Bavaria obviously went well as they have offered him a three-year deal, which he is currently considering.
"I spent a week there and was treated very well. It was a good standard of football and they were nice people," the youngster told the Evening Chronicle.
"They said in six to nine months I could be pushing for a first-team place. It's a good set up and they've provisionally offered a three-year contract.
"It was always going to be hard to get a new contract at Newcastle as they can bring in £5 million players and I thought I might have to go away.
"I wasn't so disappointed as you have to believe in your own ability. I'm mentally pretty strong and knew I had to get on with it and find another club.
"Fortunately I had the trial at 1860 and a few clubs over here were also interested. Nothing's signed yet, but one way or the other things should be sorted out soon."
