Brian Kerr enters the final year of his current deal next season determined to establish himself in the first team, after impressing on his ten appearances last time out.
The 21-year-old Scotland international midfielder has revealed that his presence at St James’ Park is due to the influence of his boyhood hero Dalglish.
"When I was signing I had to choose between Rangers, Tottenham and Newcastle," he told the Wishaw Press.
"One of the main reasons I came to Newcastle was because of Kenny, he was a hero of mine.
"The fact that a Scottish legend was trying to sign me was a massive complement to my ability.
"He assured me that I could make it at Newcastle and that pleased my parents."
