Kerr eyes summer exit

The midfielder is currently on loan at Livingston and believes his first-team opportunities will be limited if he returns to Newcastle. And at the age of 22 he feels he needs to be playing regularly if he is to achieve his international ambitions with Scotland.

"At this moment in time my mind is set on leaving Newcastle, that is what I am looking at," admitted Kerr.

"The club are not showing that they think I have a future there and every time I pick up a paper they are in for someone else.

"I had a few games last year but there are a few players who are not happy there now so it will not be easy for me to go back.

"I am delighted to be playing first-team games and that is all I am looking for this season.

"It is down to Newcastle what happens but in January, I can start speaking to other teams although it is their decision whether I stay up in Scotland for the rest of the season.

"But I want to play games and I would not want to go back and play reserve team football.

"I am not sure what my preference is if I did leave. I would have to take all the options into consideration whether it is playing in the Nationwide first division or in Scotland.

"I have just got to wait until nearer the time and make my decision then."
