Afterwards the young Scot said: "It was the best way to start the New Year. I've only ever been on as a substitute before so to make a start for Newcastle United against Liverpool was special.
"It was tough playing on that pitch but I felt we did very well against a very good team. It was an important win for us.
"I normally play through the middle for the reserves but have also played out wide right for both them and Coventry City. I'll play anywhere to get a game.
"Hopefully I've shown a little bit of what I can do. I know we've got a few injuries at the moment and I'm ready if the gaffer needs me."
