Kieron Dyer was told today by the England boss that even if he regains his fitness, he won't be risked for the World Cup. Eriksson is not prepared to risk the midfielder, as he is already taking injured midfielders David Beckham and Nicky Butt to Japan and Korea.
Dyer has escaped knee ligament damage, and has been swimming to try and strengthen the knee. He has also sought advice from Alan Shearer who has also had this injury, but all of his efforts have been in vain.
Dyer was injured when he was tackled horrendously by Southampton's Tahar El Khalej on the last day of the season at St. Mary's.
One consolation for Dyer is that at the age of 23, he is sure to have another chance at playing in the World Cup.
