Alan Pardew is adamant Tim Krul has got what it takes to star at the World Cup finals, and so do the Newcastle fans.
Krul – who is competing against the likes of Swansea City’s Michel Vorm and Ajax’s Jasper Cillessen – has won five international caps.
Alan Pardew: “Tim was disappointed to be left out of the Holland squad.
“And I said to him before the game that he needed to put in a performance that warranted a call, and he did. That double save was excellent.
“He’s performed for us, and I think he is (Holland’s best goalkeeper), but he hasn’t made this squad.
“He’s very disappointed. The only thing he can do is produce performances for us to prove that to be the wrong decision.”
Tim Krul: “If we keep winning like this, hopefully I’ve got a chance.
“The manager said he’s following 50 players up towards the World Cup, so everything is open.”
