Newcastle United have used fewer capped players than almost every other Premier League side this season.
The Magpies have fielded players who have played for their country in 53.1% of their top-flight minutes this season, according to research conducted by the CIES Football Observatory.
Only Burnley have fielded fewer, with 16.2% of league minutes played for the club coming from internationals.
Chelsea have the league’s highest percentage at 98.2% of minutes.
They’re followed by Manchester City (93.8%), Everton (92.3%), Liverpool (91.1%) and Manchester United (90.1%).
The Premier League as a whole has used a higher percentage of internationals than the other big four European leagues (Germany, Italy, Spain and France).
Sides in England’s top flight have fielded international players for an average of 75.8% of minutes played this season.
That’s ahead of the 60.9% of minutes in the Bundesliga, 59.2% of minutes in Serie A, 42.4% in France’s Ligue One and 38% in the Spanish La Liga.
AC Milan are the club to have had the highest percentage of internationals across Europe’s big five leagues.
The Rossoneri have fielded internationals for 99.4% of their league game minutes so far this season.
That’s followed by Chelsea (98.2%), Borussia Dortmund (98.1%), Bayern Munich (96.2%), Juventus (95.8%) and Real Madrid (95.5%).
