De Jong has not scored in 10 appearances for the Magpies since joining on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach in January.
Cisse suffered a similarly frustrating time in front of goal before netting his first league goal in open play for 11 months against Crystal Palace in March.
Luuk de Jong: “I was very pleased for him when he scored the goal.
“He’s always in the right position and gets his chances.
“Even when he misses, he just keeps doing it and keeps doing it.
“It’s really good what he does, and at the end against Palace he got the chance and scored, so I was really pleased for him.
“I just want to improve my game every game.
“That’s why I love being here. I hope to be important for the team, and after this season, I hope to stay.”
