The 37-year-old has been without a club since being released by Derby County at the end of last season and Hammers boss Glenn Roeder had previously indicated that he was only training with the club in order to keep fit.
But tucked away at the bottom of a team news story on West Ham’s official website is the paragraph: “Five players - six, including Rob Lee, whom Glenn is hopeful of signing - going to Wycombe have not played any competitive first team football for the Hammers.”
Obviously we wish Rob the best of luck if the move goes through. Even at this advanced stage of his career he undoubtedly has a lot to offer and West Ham are certain to receive 100 per cent commitment on the field in return for their contract offer.
