Liam Is Heading Home!

The body of the devoted Toon fan will soon be flown back to Tyneside, ending weeks of emotional turmoil for his family.

The 28-year-old’s dad Barry received the news on Tuesday that his son was among the 220 bodies flown back to the Netherlands.

He told the Chronicle: “They’ve identified Liam but they haven’t identified anyone else yet.

“They’ve found him.

“We’re over the moon but devastated at the same time. It’s the best news on a tragic day.

“Lesley always believed that there was a chance he still could be alive until now.

“I’m starting to think of all the other families now. Our attention will be towards them who haven’t yet got closure yet but hopefully it’s on its way.

“We have got to wait a few days before we get him home from Holland and he will be arriving into the East Midlands.

“They will then carry out a post mortem there.

“I was dumbstruck when I got the call. I’m just pleased he’s coming home.”

The family are expecting Liam’s body to be flown to the West Midlands in the next few days.

A post-mortem will then be carried out by a British pathologist.

TRIBUTE TO NEWCASTLE FANS

Alan Pardew: "None of us would be sitting here without the fans.

"Owners and managers come and go, as do players, but the fans are always there, and these two guys in particular, to go to the lengths that they did to get out here, has brought home just how important supporters are to us.

"Sometimes when you lose lives in that manner, it puts into context what we do.

"This season we want to give their families something to remember them by, by having a successful season.

"It's important we represent ourselves in the right manner, especially after losing John and Liam.

"We have to conduct ourselves well on and off the pitch and get some strong results."
