... Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has claimed Newcastle United striker Demba Ba's release clause is less than £7 million - triggering interest from clubs including Everton and Liverpool.
Would Liverpool interest Ba? I'm sure Everton wouldn't.
And I don't honestly believe Mike Ashley would rush into transfer talks for the £7m that has been quoted.
OK, Ashley says "every Newcastle player has his price" ... but £7m for a goal machine like Ba? You have GOT to be JOKING.
Ba, 26, has been the signing of the summer after joining Newcastle on a free transfer from West Ham United, scoring 15 goals in 19 Premier League matches so far this season.
The Senegal international's form has sparked rumours of interest in his signature, with both Merseyside clubs monitoring the issue and Spurs boss Redknapp being credited with a keen interesting in bringing him to White Hart Lane.
When asked about a £10 million release clause, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror: "I think you will find it is a lot less than that."
And when pressed further on whether it is as little as £7 million, he replied: "Even less than that."
