JULY 13th 2009: Newcastle United were forced to deny that Joe Kinnear is on the way back.
NUFC statement: "Reports in the press this morning that Joe Kinnear is to be appointed as Newcastle United manager are not true.
"The position remains that the club is still in the market to be sold and is still negotiating with prospective buyers."
The speculation over his return came after he broke his silence yesterday.
Kinnear: "Kevin Keegan and Alan Shearer, the Messiahs, got nine points between them.
"When I went into hospital, we were 13th with 13 games left. Everything was going in our favour.
"All the other clubs were getting beat, and we were on a great run. It was looking an absolute doddle."
Joe Kinnear claims the Toon were "in safe hands" until he had his heart attack on February 7th. What a load of bollocks! Look at the results from Christmas ... and don't forget the Liverpool performance that was too much for Shay Given!
