Although Taylor was born in Greenwich, London, he was brought up in the North-East. Ramage comes from Whitley Bay.
Roeder: "Steven is a very enthusiastic player. He certainly shows that enthusiasm and the fans have seen that and taken to it. He enjoys the fact he is a local lad playing for Newcastle.
"Peter Ramage is a much quieter person, much more reserved, but he enjoys as much as Steven does wearing the black and white also as a local lad. It is the dream of every young boy who grows up in Newcastle to play for the black and whites and they have both achieved that.
"They are young players in what I call an older man's position, a more experienced player's position, but they are doing very well. They have still got lots and lots to learn - they know that - but they are terrific lads to work with.
"They are sponges for information. They are always asking questions to try to become better players. There is lots of improvement in them. They need to keep their heads down and keep listening and working hard, which I am sure they will."
