... the latest to come out of Wapping is that former Charlton boss Alan Curbishley is being linked to his job.
The People, second only to the News Of The World for waffle about the club, says Roeder could fall next month. It certainly could happen, and with Freddy Shepherd coming under severe pressure and looking for a way to win back favour with the supporters, he could swing the axe. And the ex-Charlton boss (according to those in the know) turned down the Newcastle job when Graeme Souness was sacked.
Apparently the reason why he has not returned to the Premiership before now, according to The People, is that he could not take a job because of the terms agreed in his severance deal with Charlton. That stopped him from moving into any new job until November 1.
However Curbishley has already been on Sky Sports touting for a job. And although struggling West Ham could well be his first choice as he used to play for them, suddenly "Newcastle will monitor him".
