Sir Bobby Robson is known to be annoyed at the amount of training that Lua Lua has missed whilst away on international duty and it led to him dropping the forward, despite an impressive start to the season.
The deciding factor in the Congan’s decision could be the death threats that his family has been subjected to since his decision to pull out of the game with Libya game last month. Lua Lua subsequently decided to play in that game, but according to press reports the incident has upset him enough to quit international football.
If he does decide to quit international football it will undoubtedly be good news for us and will get Lua Lua back in Sir Bobby’s good books.
Away from St James’, on-loan midfielder Stuart Green has been upset by the sacking of Hull boss Jan Molby.
Green told the Evening Chronicle: "I think we as players let him down. He was fantastic with me and I was gutted when he got the sack.
"Now we've got to stand up and be counted. I think there's still time for the new manager to turn things around. Look at the start Hartlepool had last season - they still made the promotion play-offs."
Hopefully new boss Peter Taylor will choose to retain Green. Taylor is widely acknowledged as one of the best coaches in the game and a season working with him could do wonders for the youngster.
