Former Inter defender Luca Caldirola has knocked back proposals from Newcastle United and Huddersfield Town, according to Sky Italia.
Newcastle, Huddersfield and Bologna all made moves to try to tempt Caldirola to quit his current club, Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen.
But the centre-back has opted to stay put in Germany and will put pen to paper on a new contract with Werder Bremen to keep him at the club until the summer of 2019.
Werder Bremen snapped Caldirola up from Italian outfit Cesena in 2013 and he had a loan spell with Darmstadt in the 2015/16 campaign – he had been due to see his contract with the club expire this summer.
The Italian missed the majority of this season with injury and as such was restricted to just five Bundesliga appearances for Werder Bremen.
He did play all 90 minutes at left-back in the club's first game of the season, a 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Bayern Munich.
With his stay at Werder Bremen, Caldirola will look to close in on 100 Bundesliga appearances; he currently has 79 to his name.
