Newcastle will wait until the summer before addressing the issue of Romelu Lukaku's future, but will the 'Special One' keep hold off the youngster?
Newcastle and Everton have been told they will have to cough up £20m to tempt Chelsea to sell, and United (officially) have £19m from the sale of Yohan Cabaye.
Mourinho has repeatedly insisted this season that his players must learn to perform when the results really matter, unlike in the last two campaigns when Chelsea finished 25 and 14 points adrift of the Premier League champions, respectively.
Yet the 1-0 reverse at Selhurst Park, against a side fighting relegation, appears to have blunted the Blues' title aspirations, with Mourinho responding to the defeat by ruling his team out of the race.
With Liverpool now top by two points and Manchester City two points back in third place but with two games in hand, Chelsea's fate is certainly now well out of their hands.
Mourinho: "It's clear in everybody that Chelsea next year wants to bring a striker."
So what about the futures of Torres, Eto'o and Ba?
Romelu Lukaku will see out the campaign at Goodison Park having joined the Toffees on a season-long agreement from Chelsea.
Having previously shone during a loan stint at West Bromwich Albion, Lukaku has further enhanced his blossoming reputation with 13 goals in all competitions.
Still only 20 years of age, he appears destined to reach the very top of the game, but uncertainty surrounds where he will be playing next term.
Will Mourinho welcome him back into the first team ranks at Stamford Bridge?
