The banner, which reads "6 in a row doon you go FTM" (sic) appeared overnight on the landmark bridge into the city centre.
The move makes it a hat trick of pranks by Sunderland fans: last weekend saw SAFC supporters flying a plane over St James's Park carrying a banner mocking Newcastle as NUFC took on Spurs in their last game of the season, winning 5-1.
A video was posted on YouTube of Boycie from Only Fools and Horses with a message for NUFC fans from "the Seaburn lads".
