Mackems To Sign Andy Cole?

The Sunderland boss is desperate to land the striker, released from his contract at Portsmouth this week, to re-create the famous Manchester United strike force of Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke.

The Sunday People are reporting that Cole would be willing to make the move to the Stadium of Light despite playing early in his career for the Black Cats' arch-rivals Newcastle.

Cole, 36, feels he has at least one season left him in at the top flight.

Signed from Bristol City and took the place by storm with his powerful running, superb finishing, and uncanny partnership with Peter Beardsley.

Left under a cloud when he was sold to Manchester United and said he was joining a better club. OK, perhaps he was, but we didn't want to hear it.
