But, on a sad note, Wayne Routledge (who has only played three times at St James’ Park since his January move from Queens Park Rangers) is ruled out.
The 25-year-old’s continuing calf problems were a bit of a concern yesterday.

“He has been a massive player for us this season and to lose him when we did was a blow.
“Thankfully, the arrival of Patrick helped cushion that blow, but to have Jose back is excellent news.
“We’ll be without Wayne but the good news is that Peter Løvenkrands, Nicky Butt and José Enrique should return.”
