Of all of United’s new faces this summer, it is 18-year-old Aarons who has excited the Toon supporters the most.
And 1970's legend Supermac is already a fan ... and we hear Man City are ready to offer him a wealth of riches.
Malcolm Macdonald: "Aarons has made a more lasting impression, which is a serious condemnation of those who cost so much cash.
"Alan Pardew asked the Geordie public to give his new team – ie his new players – 10 games before they judge them.
"Well, I’m asking United’s boss to give Aarons six matches, which isn’t too much.
"When I was manager of Fulham I liked to blood kids. When I did I took them to one side and promised them half-a-dozen games to take the pressure off.
"After that they would be ready for a rest physically and mentally. That would freshen them up to come back later on.
"Pardew must start with Aarons in United’s next match at Southampton. But if he doesn’t rip the world apart he will probably be dropped for Hull City up here.
"However will Pardew axe Remy Cabella who didn’t do well against Crystal Palace? Or Manu Riviere? I very much doubt it!
"United were sterile against Palace. No punch up front through the middle, little creativity in midfield, and with a soft centre at the heart of the defence.
"Yet Aarons came on and gave everyone a lift – the crowd and the players around him.
"He was a breath of fresh air. He brought a different attitude into play, he had a desire, and he was positive around so much negativity."
