McClen transfer bid rejected

Speculation throughout the week has linked first division high flyers Wolverhampton Wanderers with a bid for the player.

A bid has now come in for McClen, but the young Geordie still features heavily in the plans of boss Bobby Robson.

Dave Jones may have more luck with his other Toon target Wayne Quinn however, with Robson trimming his wage bill in preparation for the summer he will not stand in the way of a move to Molineux for Quinn.

The 70-year-old Toon manager however must avoid reducing his squad too heavily as he chases success in both the Premiership and FA Cup.
