Newcastle United midfielder Mikel Merino was in woeful form as Rafael Benitez's side were beaten by Leicester City.
Newcastle United fans are becoming concerned by Mikel Merino’s performances, since he signed a permanent contract at St. James’ Park.
Merino made a wonderful start to life at Newcastle, after signing on loan from Borussia Dortmund, and Rafael Benitez’s side wasted no time tying the central midfielder to a permanent deal, in an £8 million transfer.
However, more recently, the Spanish midfielder has struggled to show his best.
We said on this website that his contribution in midfield would be key to a result at Chelsea, but he hardly had a kick.
And he was at fault for one of the goals which Newcastle conceded in their 3-2 defeat against Leicester City at the weekend.
Yet he said after the match "this team is perfect for the Premier League"!
What he sees, and what he believes, seems to be a million miles from reality.
