His form at Hull this season has prompted Tigers manager Peter Taylor to make a bid to sign Green on a permanent basis.
The Hull Daily Mail has reported that we have agreed a fee of £150,000 and that Green has been offered a three-year contract at Boothferry Park.
Taylor said: "Stuart has really impressed me since I came to the club and I think he's an excellent prospect. We are talking to Newcastle and we're trying to sort something out.
"The chairman (Adam Pearson) is dealing with things and they're very fortunate to have him backing me. I know Stuart is enjoying himself here and hopefully he will agree to sign."
If Green is allowed to depart then it will come as something of a shock after we turned down a bid from Carlisle earlier in the year because Green was said to be part of Sir Bobby’s long-term plans.
