"I’m not sure if we’ll have two or three mini leagues within the Premier League this season. It’s too early to say.
“But I think it’s fair to say, without sounding negative, Newcastle will be in the bottom half.
“People talk about finishing fourth bottom, but I would aim a bit higher – you don’t want to get sucked into that.”
