And you know what ... I'm back Ashley on this!
He is here on loan, and as he is desperate for a place on the French plane heading to the World Cup next June (IF they qualify), we will get some mileage out of him.
Good for him - good for Newcastle United. But don't for one second believe you will get any loyalty out of him.
He made a substitute appearance for France last night, playing out the last 20 minutes in the 3-0 win over Finland.
But Remy insists he is not looking beyond his loan spell with Newcastle.
The 26-year-old joined the club in the summer on a season-long loan from relegated Queens Park Rangers.
The question of whether Newcastle will finalise a permanent deal is now being raised, although the player refuses to make any firm commitment on his future.
"I am really enjoying it at Newcastle, but what happens next I don't know," he said.
"For the moment the question of staying beyond my loan period is not in my head - it is a good question, but we have time to decide."
Will he sign for us? Will he bollox.
