I'll never forget a match at the Stadium of Shite (when he was Mackem boss) and he was thrust in front of the Sky TV cameras for a post-match interview.
He was on the pitch as the Toon fans were kept behind for the usual safety reasons ... so it was him - and about three and a half thousand Geordies.
The singing was deafening "Peter Reid's got a f***in monkey's heed", and recording of the event showed the SKY TV interviewer trying to get himself a story, slagging off the Newcastle fans.
But Reid would have none of it!
"Hey listen," he said. "Look at my ears ... look at this face ... I look like a monkey. So don't have a go at them (Newcastle fans)."
Good on yer Peter.
And during today's BBC TV programme 'Football Focus' he was disgusted that Man Utd v Man City had been voted "Best Premiership Game Ever".
Peter Reid: "Who voted for THAT game? Seriously, who votes?
"Because they have got it wrong.
"I was at that match, and no-way was that the best match.
"Liverpool v Newcastle was. As simple as that!"
