The striker - without a goal in 38 games for the club - made his first-team comeback from injury in last Sunday's goalless draw against Everton.

Chris Hughton: "Hopefully, that will be him injury-free, and he can make some contribution.

"He's a player who can play in a few positions. At the moment, we've managed to get a few off the treatment table, but you always know you're going to have more injuries.

"He's experienced, and also versatile. Alan's a wholehearted player who likes to work hard in games and training.

"It still doesn't take away the frustration at having to watch the lads train every day, and having to watch the games every week. You want to be part of it.

"That's probably the side a lot of people don't see, the real frustration of being out for such a long time when you can't affect anything.

"It's quite monotonous. You come in for training and treatment every day when, really, you want to be out on the training pitch and having an influence. That's probably the side most don't see.

"I'm pleased for him, and he's chuffed himself."
