Derby County maintained their position at the top of the Barclays Under-21 Premier League Division Two table thanks to a 3-1 victory over Newcastle United.
Darren Wassall's men picked up another three points at Whitley Park on Monday evening.
The Rams took the lead after only 35 seconds, when Charles Vernam netted following Jamie Hanson's free kick on the left.
They doubled their lead after seven minutes through Timi Max Elsnik, who headed in after being picked out by Vernam.
Lewis McNall pulled one back for Peter Beardsley's side just before half-time.
But Derby's two-goal cushion was restored in the 52nd minute, when Ivan Calero latched on to Vernam's pass and lifted the ball over keeper Freddie Woodman.
