However, Everton boss David Moyes was keen to keep a diplomatic distance and would not be drawn on the turbulent recent events in the north-east.
Moyes: "He is probably saying a few things that some Newcastle managers have wanted to say before.
"I've not had chance to read them, that is just from what I have heard.
"Newcastle have their own problems and they are theirs to look after, I have mine to look after here.
"I think any manager has to come in and work with the players he has got.
"He will try and get the best out of them but these are questions for Joe Kinnear - I am concentrating on getting my team playing as well as we can."
