Now the captain has turned his full attention to kick-starting our season with a win on Wednesday night.
He told The Sun: “I’m delighted it is signed for another year after this one and I’m looking forward to getting the season back on track.
“The performance against Bolton on Saturday was encouraging and all I want to do now is celebrate this with a goal or two against Breda.
“We may not be back to our flowing football just yet but we were certainly better at the weekend than in the most recent games at home against Partizan Belgrade and Birmingham.
“Everyone knows this is my club. They therefore will know what it means to me and the rest of the lads to get things rolling again.
“It is a huge game - a huge week for us.”
One interesting claim in the article (but please remember which publication it is in) is that the club made no attempt to move Friday’s game against Arsenal back, although they did attempt to bring the UEFA Cup clash forward to Tuesday.
