... a man who sold Newcastle United their first Premier League kit.
YES ... they ALL want(ed) to buy Newcastle United.
Geoff Sheard failed in a bid to take over Sheffield Wednesday last season, but he's supposedly after the Toon.
The Chronicle: Sheard is spearheading a North West-based consortium’s bid, which is understood to be backed by a renowned American company with a big interest in sport.
It is believed Sheard, who was also linked with a move with United last February after Mike Ashley had removed Newcastle from the market, would appoint Alan Shearer as manager if he was successful in his bid.
Sources close to Sheard also suggest the American company backing his bid also have sufficient funds to support the Magpies in the transfer market. But time is running out on that score, with a week to go before the window shuts.
