Sunderland fans were hammered in the press for causing touble after a game at Brunton Park last season when they stormed a wedding in the train station area of town, striking out at wedding guests.
This time Cumbria Police claim they arrested 16 football fans when disorder broke out following the pre-season friendly between Carlisle and Newcastle on Saturday.
However the story in one newspaper suggests both sets of fans "clashed in the city centre", which is well off mark. There were incidents, but certainly not organised (as suggested) and hardly a riot.
Most of the arrests were made at pubs in Carlisle city centre, though a small number were made at the match.
They were for public disorder offences or being drunk and disorderly. No breakdown was given as to which teams those arrested supported.
Newcastle And Carlisle Fans DID NOT Clash After Match
Police said the majority of fans were there to enjoy the match and there was no major incident.
