Team and fans feeding off each other as belief returns
Newcastle United ended a run of three straight away defeats on Friday evening as they beat Wolves 1-0 at St James’ Park to move 10 points clear of the relegation zone.
The home form under Eddie Howe has been a key factor in the move away from the relegation dog fight – a far cry from how home games had been for a fair period of time prior to his arrival.
Before the change of ownership, and subsequent change of manager, St James’ Park was far from an intimidating place for away teams, with frustration at the direction of the club and the style of play, there seemed to be pressure affecting the home side more than the visitors.
A new regime and a new approach on the field has brought fresh hope and enthusiasm to the stands and the crowd and the team are feeding off the positive atmosphere, which is reflected in the performances and the results. The Magpies have now won 4 home matches in a row and are 6 league without defeat at St James’.
Next up for Newcastle is a home game against Leicester on Sunday 17th April.
