Dynamic forward duo forced off against Manchester United
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe will be hoping for some good news on the injury front ahead of the Magpies next game against Everton on Thursday.
Toon striker Callum Wilson was forced off towards the end of the first half in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Monday evening and goal scorer Allan Saint Maximin also had to leave the field with an injury late in the second half.
Wilson’s injury appeared to be a muscle problem rather than any reoccurrence of recent knee injuries and Saint Maximin also appeared to have a muscular injury after pulling up short when running towards the ball.
Howe stated immediately after the game that the extent of the injuries was yet to be confirmed with further assessment required. Both players are key to Newcastle offering a threat in front of goal and will be a big miss if they are not available to face the Toffees later in the week, more so as Howe intimated Covid issues in the playing squad are also hampering his preparations.
