Newcastle linked with Portugese wonder kid

The 17-year-old Sporting Lisbon midfielder has already been dubbed the ‘New Figo’ and has attracted interest of many of Europe’s top clubs including Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus.

Whether or not Sir Bobby will follow up his interest and use his connections in Portugal to seal the move, as he did with Hugo Viana, remains to be seen. At this stage it is just speculation.

The other rumour of the moment concerns Jaap Stam moving to St James if he can secure a free transfer from cash-strapped Lazio in January.

This one seems to be unlikely though as Stam has repeatedly said he doesn’t want to return to England. It could be his agent is putting these rumours about in order to get a better deal from PSV Eindhoven, which appears to be Stam’s preferred destination.
