Alan Pardew, who put Nile Ranger on the transfer list last year, has warned the troubled striker that his footballing future is on the line.

sRanger was convicted of two counts of assault against a police officer this week after admitting the charge. This followed a drink-driving conviction from November 2011, while in March this year the 21-year-old striker was convicted of being drunk and disorderly.

Pardew has not allowed Ranger to train with the first team this season.

Sir Bobby Robson once said: "Laurent Robert has caused me more trouble than any other player."

But Robert is not in the same league as Nile Ranger!

Nile Ranger: "I think I've been fair with him.

"This guy is late so often it is unbelievable.

"He's still at this football club and we're trying to do something with him. But he will not get back into the team unless he has a period of six weeks where he isn't late.

"I don't think it is going to happen. It is important I'm not going to let him train with the first team because he is letting the other players down.

"The bottom line is that we haven't got four or five clubs queuing up. In fact, we haven't got one club queuing up for him.

"That should be alarm bells in his head to get his act in order. But maybe he doesn't want to be a footballer."
