Newcastle predicted lineup vs Leicester - Premier League

Newcastle will aim for some momentum as they host Leicester in the Premier League this weekend.

Following three straight defeats, culminating in a 5-1 mauling at the hands of Tottenham, Eddie Howe's men earned an important victory last time out, overcoming Wolves 1-0 at St. James' Park.

The Magpies at least already now look safe from what previously looked like likely relegation, sitting ten points clear of the drop zone.

This weekend brings a tough test, however, in the shape of a Leicester side that has just booked a place in the Europa Conference League semi-finals.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Martin Dubravka (GK) - Newcastle's firm number one is in line for a 22nd consecutive Premier League start here.

Emil Krafth (RB) - Has been in rotation with Javier Manquillo since Kieran Trippier's almost season-concluding injury and, after doing a solid job in a 1-0 win last time out, the Swede should continue.

Fabian Schar (CB) - A preferred option under Howe, the Switzerland international has at times looked a little tired in recent games but should still retain his place.

Dan Burn (CB) - Set for a 10th Premier League start for his boyhood club this weekend.

Matt Targett (LB) - Showed his ability when venturing forward last time out and should be in line to carry on on the left of Howe's back-line.

2. Midfielders

Bruno Guimaraes (CM) - Still hasn't firmly established himself as a guaranteed starter - although a sensational showing against Wolves last time out should have done now.

Jonjo Shelvey (CM) - A sure starter under Howe and, having recently assumed the captain's armband, will surely continue in the first XI.

Joelinton (CM) - Seems crazy to think that Joelinton was once a striker, doesn't it?

3. Forwards

Miguel Almiron (RW) - Came on to replace the injured Ryan Fraser early on last time out and, with the Scotsman absent for this clash, could be the one to deputise.

Chris Wood (ST) - In line for a 13th Premier League start since arriving at the club and will hope to get on the scoresheet for a second successive game for the first time this term.

Allan Saint-Maximin (LW) - Always involved in proceedings, the Frenchman lifts bums off seats and fixes eyes on games - a mercurial talent who is too good not to be higher up the table for much longer.
