Many questions were asked when Sir Bobby Robson sold Gary Speed to Bolton Wanderers.
The very fact that Sir Bobby left (for whatever reason) and we have had two managers since ... and Speed is STILL playing top quality football ... the doubters have a hatful of reasons to say Bobby got it wrong.
He returns to St James' Park on Sunday and Glenn Roeder tips him to be a top manager in years to come.
Roeder: "I have only met Gary Speed once, before Alan Shearer's testimonial, and I cannot say I have ever met anyone who has impressed me more in such a short space of time both as a person and then as a player.
"I know it was it was only a testimonial, but the first half of that game was played at proper match tempo and I thought Gary was terrific.
"Just that one meeting I had with him, I was hugely impressed by him as a person, and I am sure if he ever wanted to go into management, he would make a top manager."
