Press reports in Nigeria had claimed that the World Cup star was on the verge of signing for Newcastle following the expiry of his contract with Shakthar Donetsk, but Sir Bobby insists that this isn’t the case.
"We have had Isaac offered to us but we have said no," he told the Evening Chronicle.
"We had him over from Ukraine last season and he is a nice boy who speaks good English.
"He was a decent performer but he was no better than what we already have here so we sent him home.
"In any case, why should we want another central defender when as things stand today we have Jonathan Woodgate, Titus Bramble, Andy O'Brien, Aaron Hughes, Nikos Dabizas and the Caldwell brothers?"
