The Mackem Slayer is about to enter the last year of his contract at St James’s Park, and United manager Alan Pardew indicated in May he would be open to offers for the 31-year-old.
Ameobi has been frustrated at a lack of first team opportunities, having started just four league fixtures – and 11 in total – last term as the club fought to stay in the division.
According to reports today Alan Pardew said yesterday: “I hope he wants to stay, but that’ll be his decision."
But as Pardew is on holiday, I think that quote has been dug up from a past interview.
As for Ameobi, who is ALSO on holiday, his reply is also out of date: “I’ve always said as long as I’m wanted here, I’ll be a Newcastle United player."
All in all ... if a bid comes in I'm sure United will consider it.
WE TELL IT AS IT IS - NO BULLSHIT!
