While Sol Campbell had not lifted a finger to get fit over the summer (and is still two or three weeks away from match fitness) - Jonas Gutierrez is suffering because of the World Cup.
Gutierrez won't have a full summer holiday next year either because of the Copa America.
Gutierrez: "It's going to be a hard season for me.
"But I have the national team in midweek, and I'm going to be ready for Manchester United.
"It's always important for us to play in the national team. Playing three days before the league starts is very hard, because I came back from my holidays about 10 days ago.
"It will be hard, but the most important thing is to play for the national team.
"It's very good. In 10 months we have a Copa America in Argentina, and it's a very good way to start our preparations.
"It's very important for me and Colo to be back in the Premier League.
"To fight for a place while playing in the second division is very difficult."
