Milner insisted that Newcastle United are beginning to see the very best of Alan Smith following the striker's performances in his natural attacking position.
No Square Pegs In Round Holes For Milner!
Milner: "That's his position and the one he's played in all of his life.
"I've seen a lot of him up front after coming through the ranks at Leeds and playing alongside him.
"That's his best position. But because he's such a genuine lad, he will play in any position he is asked.
"He can do that job in midfield because he's got so much energy.
"In the last few games, though, he's shown he can play as a front man.
"Any half-decent ball up to him and you know he can hold it up and give you a chance to get a breather then build your attacks up from there."
