Nobby Re-Think On Internationals
"I'm not going to play (for Peru) any more, I just want to concentrate on my football here. It makes things difficult when you are travelling (to South America) all the time.
"Who knows what might happen in the future? When I go back to Peru in three or four years time, maybe I will play international football again. But, for now, it's over."
Had Peru qualified for next summer's World Cup finals Solano would have continued to play for his country, despite his problems with coach Freddy Ternero which left his international career in the balance.
Souness: "It was something which we touched upon during our discussions. We were aware of the situation. Nobby realises he has got a wonderful opportunity here, coming back to the club he loves, working with some great players and hopefully being successful. He has got to be fully concentrated on Newcastle United and he realises that.
"It is a comfort to us that he has been cleared to play this weekend, it is good news. All he has to do now is get himself fit and there's no guarantee of that."
