West Ham are set to reignite their interest in Joey Barton, according to reports today, and no-one would be more delighted than Nolan.
The East Londoners are monitoring the situation regarding the controversial midfielder, who has yet to sign a new contract at Newcastle.
The Championship side discussed a move for Barton earlier this month, when the Magpies first made it clear earlier that they had made him available on a free transfer.
At the time, the Hammers’ interest in the player is said to have been described as “lukewarm”.
Barton would have to accept a massive cut in wages currently said to be in the region of £60,000-a-week.
Kevin Nolan: "I am loving my time at West Ham. This is a massive club and I would recommend the place to anyone.
"Me and Joey are best mates, and I have been watching his 'Twittering' with interest.
"He is a character, we all know that, but he is also a great player.
"Whether he stays at Newcastle, I don't know. That's a question you need to ask him."
Sam Allardyce’s side are one of the favourites to bounce straight back up to the top flight and won 4-0 at Watford last night.
