"Losing that fixture was very painful. You would have to say Barcelona and Inter are now in pole position to qualify for the quarter-finals but we will do our best to recover.
"Shola did not deserve to be on the losing side and had, in my opinion, an excellent match. I was delighted for the lad and he could have finished with three goals against a defender of Ronald de Boer's quality.
"He was strong and a real handful. On that evidence we have a fine young player for the future and I would expect a positive response from Alan Shearer.
"We have no points, while both Barca and Inter have six and that tells its own story.
"But we will not give in and we, more than anyone, know that anything can happen.
"To lose against Barcelona hurt quite a bit but I've thoroughly enjoyed my return to Catalonia and I've been fortunate to receive a very warm reception. It just mystifies me how they are performing so poorly in the league."
Louis van Gaal
"I'm sorry for Bobby that we've won because I always wish him luck and a lot of wins.
"But, nevertheless, I've seen a good game and and I enjoyed the match.
"I always enjoy the mentality of the English players and also the support of the English crowd because they supported their team right to the end.
"I believe they are still in it because they have proved already in the first round that they can come back after two defeats. I hope for them that they can come back - but not at Barcelona's expense."
Gary Speed
"He (Ameobi) was the big plus for us, I thought he was superb.
"It was a coming of age performance from him. He showed what a great talent he is and he is one to look out for in the future.
"He and Lomana LuaLua caused them problems all night.
"Shola's goal was well taken and he could have had another couple as well. He has bags of potential, now he has to realise it."
Andy Griffin
"I've played against the likes of Ryan Giggs, David Ginola and Harry Kewell but I would say Overmars is probably the best I've ever come across, certainly the quickest.
"If you get too tight to him then he can be away from you with one touch. It's a question of what is the best way to deal with him, but hopefully I can learn from the experience.
"The one thing that stands out is his pace. He's very quick and he's very direct.
"I've played against him before with Arsenal, but he never had the kind of room he has on a big pitch like the Nou Camp. That benefits him.
"He's a top-quality player, but it's only by playing against the likes of him that you get to become better yourself."
Aaron Hughes
"While we weren't at the races five years ago, we really feel as thought we deserved something on this occasion.
"I am not saying we deserved to win but we certainly feel as though we deserved something. Shola Ameobi had a couple of shots kicked off the line, their keeper made a couple of good saves and Gary Speed's header flew just over the crossbar.
"Don't forget Barcelona are a quality side and they are in a false position in their domestic league.
"If you are a central defender and your side concedes three goals, then you have to be a bit disappointed.
"Looking at my two games here, they were quite different circumstances. That first night I was just so excited about being given my first chance. Now I am older and a bit wiser and I am more disappointed than anything else.
"We worked hard but they are quality. They did not give the ball away as much as we did and their finishing was decisive.
"Even when we were 2-1 down, we were still confident we could get something out of it. But at 3-1 it was always going to be that much more difficult.
"Yet, at the end of the day, it has been a fantastic experience for our young lads. Like me, Michael Chopra got his chance and he will have learned from it.
"But what we want most of all is to come back here to the Nou Camp some day and win."
Shola Ameobi
"This was probably the best game I have ever played for Newcastle and I was obviously glad to get that goal.
"I am just disappointed that we did not get the result for our fans in the stadium and those who had to go home early.
"But from a personal point of view this has got to be a massive confidence booster for me. We were playing against top class players out there and at least I proved to myself what I can do so it is fantastic for me to have played so well.
"The manager spoke to me before the game and asked me to try and lead the line like Alan Shearer does and that's what I tried to do."
Michael Copra
"Whatever happens now in my career nobody can ever take that away from me.
"For a Geordie boy to play for Newcastle United in the Champions League at the age of 18 and at a place like Barcelona is nothing short of unbelievable.
"The boss told me on Tuesday morning that I would be on the bench and when the game was washed out I couldn't believe it.
"I was terrified he would change his mind but fortunately he didn't.
"The only downer is that we did not get a better result, especially as the rest of the players did so well."
Nobby Solano
"Both ourselves and Leverkusen are in a situation where we need points.
"It's a crucial game for both teams. Our next two matches are against Leverkusen and I think we need to win them both.
"I wanted the points for the team and for all the supporters who stayed out in Barcelona to watch us.
"We're disappointed. When you play at this level you have to concentrate for 90 minutes.
"You have to be tighter and you have to be very clever. Barcelona have a lot of Champions League experience and that is crucial, but we have to keep on going."
